The reFalar meeting of the Board of Trustees of the
City of Lodi for the third 11.1onday in May .was called to order
by .he President at 8 o'clock 1-0.11. on the date and at the
place first abovewritten; Trustees -ale Roach, Shattuck and
Spooner present; Trustee Elettler absent on account of illness.
The minutes of the regular meeting of !Lay 5th were read,
approved as read and so endorsed by the _resident.
Public Hearings:
Supervisor J,*,Y.Stuck-enbruok, on behalf of the day nur-
sery established by the exchange Club, ap-
plied for financial
aid for that institution; his a --)Deal -,vas referred to the
Committee of `.;he whole for consideration.
1-Y. J."..7atson presented tentative plans for a new
fire house in Yaple Square and on motion of Trustee Shat-
tuck, seconded by Trustee Roach, 1.11r .7atson -aas authorized
to prepare a more complete plan and present it to the Board
at a meeting to be held on -.J'edensday, ''ay 21st.

A -oetition from 71illiam Voth and seven other residents
on Garfield Street, south of Vine Street askinG- that crater
service be extended as far as Po -alar Street -.-,,az read and
referred to the Co77nittee on --Public Utilities for invest-
i6-ation as to its necessity-, Superintendent Henning advised
that the extension asked would cost about $2,200,00.
The report of the City Plumbing Inspector —,az read
and ordered filed.
The City Engineer presented a m.a-o of a subdivision of
a block of land gest of block 7,7'ora-n-Handel Tract 7itn a
letter 1 subdivision.

mended the a)proval and adoption of said plat as an official

BE IT =OLVID, therefore, that this Board of Trustees
accept the donation for public use forever of all streets and
alievs set forth in said flat and hereby adopts said plat as the
ofioial may of the said tract of land;
BE IT_ A1SO RESOLVED, that 'he Presidant of this Board be,
and he is hereby directed and authorized to endorse t -is app-
roval upon said map.
The -foregoing resolution vias adopted by the following
vote:-

The Clerk as collector of the ,rater and light revenues,
broujit up the matter of the many com_olaints from rooming house
their being classed as "hotels" and suggested
aroprietors as to
that these _)laces be charged upon a basis of $1,50 plus a charge
of 10� per room; Superintuendent Henning men t.'.oned the fact that
he had received many requests for a lower rate on vacant houses
where it -rias desired to keep up lawns. After discussion, the
lodging house rate was fixed as above stated but the rate for
vacant d:uellings left as at present, it being conceded that
the .tater rate was already low enough on dwellings.
Bills amounting to $3,428.11, as a?proved by the finance
co_.r-.ittee, were allowed and ordered paid on mdtion of Trustee
Shattuck, seconded by Trustee Hale,
Christesen -aas instructed to submit the Board,
at its next meeting, a list of vacant lots ;vhere ;needs were
allowed to become a menace.
On r:otion of T -r :.stee 331_attuck, the following persons
were named as a citizen's co=cittee on play -grounds, to co-
operate witz the Board in the supervision of play- ounds:-

Ir_ the matter of the a_)plication of the exchange Club
day Nursery's appeal for funds, on motion of Trustee Shattuck,
seconded by Trustee Roach, the Board set aside the sun of $50.00
to be allowed on presentation of billsof that amount.
Cn motion of Trustee Shattuck, the Board adjourned until
8 o'clock P.Y. of 7edensday, play 21, 1924.
