service had been ones of rnuch work but that the harmony that

The City Clerl-., having previously taken the prescribed
oath, then took the chair and administered the constitutional
oath to each of the officers elected at the election of April
10th. He then stated to the Board that their first order of
business .,could be the election of a President.
J. 'J. Shattuck was then elected President of the Board
by acclamation and took the chair. 1,Ir Shattuch addressed the
members present ar.ft visitors in attendance stating that in the
years that had passed no taint of dishonesty had fallen upon any
member of the Board nor u'pon the Board as a whole and that he
would do his best to see that this reputation was preserved as
handed to him and that his utmost endeavor would b; to give the
City a business like administration.
the report of the ,City Plumbing Inspector was then read.
and ordered filed as sere communications from C.E.Gaylord of the
Southern Pacific Company regarding fire prevention and from
Lodi Den of Lions advising the Board of thetr interest in Civic
matters; the Clerk was ordered to acknowledge the letter letter
and convey the thanks of the Board.
At the request of 211r. Glenn iest, representing F.H.
Cordaay, further proceedings in the matter of the abandonment
of the streets and avenues in the 'Tiomans 3,,ndicatd" were
indefinitely postponed.
Eleven building permits a~grxeggating :69,400 669,400 were grant-
ed, also two removal permits.
In the matter of the proposed annexation of the "NORTH
ZIST ADDITION" it appearing that proper proceedure had been had
in previous actions taken, the Board adopted Resolution No. 245,
a resolution calling a special election , establishing precincts
and polling -places and naming election officers as more fully
set forth in the said resolution filed with the Clerk by the
following vote: -
AY.'::13: Trustees, Hale, Hickok, Mettler, Shattuck.
NOES: Trustees, None.

In the matter of the amne-mation of the 'SOUTH�-Rll ADDIT-
ION" Resolution No. 246 in the same tenor as the Preceeding was
then adopted by the following vote: -
AYES: Trustees, -Hale, ----ickok, 1fattler, Shattuck.
NOES: Trustees, Ilona.

The Clerk aas instructed to write the Southern Pacific
Company and ask that the lar-- tree on the site to be occupied
by the Union Oil S-.ation be 3sa-ved if possible.
Dr. S. W. Hopkins, City Eealth Officer addressed the
Board re�arding the general haalth of the City. 111. F. Ellis,
City Recorder asked that he be allowed office space and equip-
:.,,ent separate from- that in the 7 -arshal's office; on motion of
Trustee q,_le, seconded by Trustee .11-rickok, lir Ellis was gi7.�n
