Rich absent.

altemnts to sever his connection :-rith the City. On motion of Trust-
eerale, seconded by Trustee ickok, tae resignation was accepted
to become effective :.day lst next.

Street Superintendent vias then received and read and on motion of
Trustee Hic:;0%, seconded by Trustee Crose, the same Was accepted.
Irustee Rala, seconded by `_'rastee 'Crose, moved the appoint -
=ant cf T. Caristosen as hersh2-1 and Street Superintendent, Lotion
carried aznarni.mously.
On motion of Trustee dile, ooc ded by Trustee Hickok, bills
to the amount of `3,894.17, 'raving been approved by a majority of
the finance co:_.,ittae ,were allowed and ordered paid.
The Clerk presented the petition of George :. Siebert ask-
ing that payment of license -ee on his lunch :ragon be Waived for
the quarter ended june 30th as he hyid not used the license issued
him for the previous quarter; by resolution duly passed and adopted
by the follo:aing vote, the petition was allowed and the marshal
instructed to issue license for the stated quarter without payment

Trustee Crose then introduced Resolution No. 244, a full and
true copy of raich follows containing, the ratters required by law
to be entered upon the minutes of the first re:-7alar meeting following
a genaral election and the vote by which the said '?esolution was
adopted:-

lished, that election officers were atpointed and election_ supplies

returns thereof made and declared in time, form and manner as req -
aired by the general lays of the State governing elections in sixth
class cities;

That said General Election was held and conducted in the
Oity of Lodi, California on Ionday the 10th day of April, 1922
in time, form and manner as required by lww;
That there were three (3) voting precincts established
for the perpose of holding said election, consisting of a consol-
idation of the regular precincts established for holding general
state and county elections, as follows: -
"Consolidated Voting Precinct"A" comprising State and
County Precincts numbers 1, 2 and 3;
"Consolidated Votine Precinct "B" comprising State amd
County Precincts NumUers 4, 5, 6 and 7;
"Consolidated Voting Precinct "C" comprising State and
County Precincts Numbers 8, 9, 10 and 11;
That the whole number of votes cast in said City was
Nine Hundred and Fifty-nilie, (959);
That the names of the persons voted for, the offices for
which they were voted, the number of votes given in each pre-
cinct to each of said persons together with the whole number of
votes which they received in the entire City are as follows:-

That the propositions voted upon, the number of votes
given in each precinct, and in the whole City, for and against
the same are as folloas:-
RiSOLTD, therefore, that at said sy1MRAL _2 ;ICIPAL

elected to the office of Trustee for the full term of four
-errs and also that J.P.3L;i.:MLY ,,.,as elected to the office of
•Cit$ Clerk. for two years to fill the un -expired term of F.S.
Clark and also that the follorring propositions were adopted,
to-wit:-

Trustees to call a special election for the urpose of electing
freeholders and allowing a salary of Q50.00 per month to. each
Trustee as heretofore set forth.
The Clerk. shall enter on the records of the Board a
statement of the res -alt of the election showing: (1) the whole
nazmber of votes cast in said City; (2) the names of the persons
voted for and the propcsitions voted upon; (3) the offices for
wrUch each person was votes for; (4) the number of votes given in

_he said Clark shall make and deliver to each of said
persons elected, a certificate of election; he shall also imp-
ose -he constitutional oath of office and have them subscribe

offices to which they have been elected.

ha retiring President of the Board, lir. J. S. ilontgom-
era then addressed the meeting, stating that his years of
service had been ones of much }rorty but that the 'rarm.ory that
had arrays prevailed in the 'Board had done much to make his
retirement while a relief .:kxk_.a relief, tinged with regret
On motion of Trustee :ale the old 'Board adjourned sine
die.
The City Clerl., having previously taken the prescribed
oath, then took the chair and administered the constitutional
oath to each of the officers elected at the election of April
10th. He then stated to the Board that their first order of
business would be the election of a President.
J. '.7. Shattuck was they_ elected President of the Board
by acclamation and took the chair. Mr Shattuck addressed the
members present and visitors in attendance stating that in the
years that had passed no taint of dishonesty had fallen upon any
member of the Board nor upon the Board as a whole and that he
would do his best to sae that this reputation was preserved as
handed to him and that his utmost endeavor would be to give the
City a business like administration.
.:he reuort of the.City Plumbing Inspector was then read
and ordered filed as were communications from C .Gaylord of the
Southern Pacific Company regarding fire prevention and from
Lodi Den of Lions advising the Board of thetr interest in Civic
matters; the Clerk was ordered to acknowledge the latter letter
and convey the thanks of the Board.
At the request of Mr. Glenn lest, representing F.H.
Coriway, further proceedings in the matter of the abandonment
of the streets and avenues in the 'T omans S_,-ndicatd" were
indefinitely postponed.
Elaven building permits aggregating X63,400 were grant-
ed, also two removal permits.
In the matter of the proposed annexation of the "NORTH
.GST ADDITION" it appearing that proper proceedure had been had
in previous actions taken, the Board adopted Resolution No. 245,
a resolution calling a special election , establishing precincts
and polling places and naming.election officare as more fully
set forth in the said resolution filed with the Clerk by the
following vote:-
AY:.'S: Trustees, Hale, Hickok, Mettler, Shattuck.
NOES: Trustees, None.
A3SE1;T: Trustees, Rich.
In tre :natter of the annexation of the 'SOUTHER -1 ADDIT-
ION" Resolution Ilo. 246 in the same tenor as the preceeding was
then adopted by the following vote: -
AYES: Trustees, Hale, -Hickok, 1'lettler, Shattuck.
NOES: Trustees, Ilona.
ABS1.11T, Trustees, Rich.
The Clerk ryas instructed to write the Southern 2acific
Company and ask that the large tree on the site to be occupied
by the Union Oil S-ation be saved if possible.
Dr. S. v';. Hopkins, City Haalth Officer addressed the
Board regarding the general haalth of the City. H. 21. Ellis,
City Recorder asked that he be allowed office space and equip-
:_lant separate from that in the :.arshal's office; on motion of
Trustee 14se, seconded by Trustee Hickok, .r Ellis was
the committee room of the Board and authorized to make suclx
