In ad'ourned regular,, -session of the Board of Trustees of
th- City of Ldi,the following trustees being rresent: J.M.Blodgett,
G.F.Lawrence,C.A.Rich and L.Vil_inger. Absent:..C.Hale.-President
Laurence presiding.

The minutes of the meeting of Feb.19,1912,were read and
Jas.Toy was granted a permit to construct a dwel_.ing and
barn on lots 182 of block 5.
Mr.J.H.Leary of Central California Tra.tion Company stated
that his company would like to procure a portion of the lot owned
by the City at the SE.Cor.of Lodi Ave.and Saeranerto Street,so that
they could build a "Y" and thus vet their trax in the enter of the
street. The matter was referred to the street com-mittee.
The bond of C.I.P.ice for the faithful performance of hi
con.traet,in the sum of t2000.00.guaran•teed by a demand certificate
of deposit for $2000.00,was read and,or.' motion of Trustee Rich,ap-
proved.
The bond of C.I.Rice for the pa;_.,ent of material men and
labor,in the sum of 92000.00,guaranteed by a demand certificate of
deposit,was read,and,on motion of Trustee Bloduett,approved.
The Natter of insurance liability was taken up,and referred
to Attorney Jones.

Whereas,The .growth in population and consequent increase is
business in the City of Lodi and surrounding country in the past few
years has necessitated extensive tznicipal improverents,including
city water and electric light workz,ar.d sewera-e system (costing
*130,000), macadamized streets in the business section (costing
040,000 ), a new union high school building and grounds (costing
§165,000 ),the building of ce:-ent sidewalks over a 1rea- portion oT
the city and the erection of many new and substantial buildings for
the accomodation of rapidly increasing businese,t::e facilities no",
provid6d by the government for conducting postal business in the
Cit; of Lodi have become entirely inadequate,therefore be it
Resolved,That the Citi.' Trustees of the OitJ of Lodi do hereby
request the Postmaster General to take action in the irz.n.ediate future
to provide,in a convenient location,new and enlarged quarters for
the Post office,to be eouipped with :ew and modern conveniences for
the transaction of postal bus'ness in the City of Lodi; and b it further.
Rezolved,That this request be transmitted to Congressman J.C.
Needham, calling his attention to the fact that the reed is urgent.

w'th his recommendation for early action.
