A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR AN ALTERNATIVE FUEL
VEHICLE GRANT ADMINISTERED BY THE SAN JOAQUIN
VALLEY AIR POLLUTION CONTROL DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District is currently
administering an Alternative Fuel Vehicle Grant to purchase clean air vehicles; and
WHEREAS, the Lodi Police Department would like to apply for the Alternative Fuel
Vehicle Grant with the intent to purchase two STAR EV Utility Carts for special events patrol
and enforcement; and
WHEREAS, the Lodi Police Department staff chose the STAR EV Utility Carts because
of their reliability, low maintenance, battery range, and capacity; and
WHEREAS, the AP48-04 is an open -style four -passenger electric vehicle with a police
package; and
WHEREAS, it has a top speed of 25 mph, can travel a maximum of 50 miles per charge,
and has regenerative braking which provides options for on- or off-road use.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby
authorize the City Manager to apply for the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District
Alternative Fuel Vehicle Grant, in the amount of $33,922, for the purchase of two AP48-04
STAR EV Utility Carts for special events patrol and enforcement.
