A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT DONATION FROM THE
LODI POLICE FOUNDATION OF A MULTI-PURPOSE ROBOT
PURCHASED FROM ICOR TECHNOLOGIES
WHEREAS, the Lodi Police Foundation was created in 2005 with the mission of "Helping
Those Who Help Others" and accomplishes this by making meaningful contributions in the form
of providing better equipment in support of the department's mission, programs, and policies;
and
WHEREAS, the foundation has focused their fundraising efforts toward the purchase of
equipment that would otherwise be unattainable through budgeted funds; and
WHEREAS, the foundation met with command staff and it was determined that the
foundation would focus on raising funds to purchase a robot to benefit both the Explosive
Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams; and
WHEREAS, the Lodi Police Department's EOD team is a certified, stand-alone bomb
squad through the FBI and 1s in partnership with a regional bomb squad with the San Joaquin
County Sheriffs Department and Stockton and Manteca Police Departments and is required to
awn a robot to ensure comptiance with federal requirements for continued squad certification;
and
WHEREAS, the robot is a multi -use platform, specifically designed to work within SWAT
and EOD operations to ensure officer safety and gather information at a safe distance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby
authorize the City Manager to accept a donation from the Lodi Police Foundation of a
multi-purpose robot purchased from Icor Technologies at a cost of $66,120.
