AGENDA TITLE: Accept Improvements Under Contract for Tienda Drive at Mills Avenue Sanitary
Sewer Pump Station Improvements
MEETING DATE: September 15, 1999
PREPARED BY: Public Works Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council accept the improvements under the "Tienda Drive
at Mills Avenue Sanitary Sewer Pump Station Improvements" contract
and direct the City Engineer to file a Notice of Completion with the
County Recorder's office.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The project was awarded to Crutchfield Construction Company, of
Stockton, on December 17, 1997, in the amount of $177,000.00.
The contract has been completed in substantial conformance with
the plans and specifications approved by the City Council.
The final contract price was $192,617.89. The pump station was put into operation when the
Vintage Retirement Residence (2145 West Kettleman Lane) opened. The delay in completing the
project was due to a delay in the delivery of the standby generator and coordination with PG&E and
Pacific Bell in connecting the generator to the pump station. The difference between the contract
amount and the final contract price is mainly due to additional site work done by the contractor to provide
early start-up on the pump station, revisions done to provide access to the site during construction,
revisions to the telemetry to the site, and alterations to the concrete work inside the pump station. The
developer of the Vintage Retirement Residence has paid the City for the early start-up costs.
The Sewer Development Impact Fee Account will be reimbursed for the cost of this project through a
reimbursement fee schedule previously approved by Council. Parcels in the pump station service area
will reimburse the City as they develop.
FUNDING: Budgeted Fund: Sewer Development Impact Fee $203,000.00
Contract Amount: $192,700.00
