CITY OF LODI COUNCIL COMMUNICATION
AGENDA TITLE: Lodi Lake Park Improvements

RECOMMENDED ACTION: None
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: On Monday, September 13, 1999, the Parks and Recreation
Department began the preparation work for beach and trail
improvements at Lodi Lake Park which included the removal of
twenty trees. Public telephone calls voicing concerns that trees
were being removed prompted the City Manager to halt removal by the late morning of September 13'x.
At the September 15, 1999 City Council meeting, Parks Superintendent Dwight Dauber made a
presentation to Council on the aforementioned project. After hearing public concerns being voiced,
Council directed staff to return to the drawing board and look at rerouting the path to preserve as many
trees as possible.
Staff will make a presentation of the revised trail74 p oject on a at Lodi Lake Park.

(NEW TRAIL IS 30 FEET FROM TRAFFIC).
3. FLOOD CONTROL ELEVATIONS ARE MAINTAINED.
4. TRAIL ACCESSABLE TO PHYSICALLY 01PARED
5. ELIMINATION OF UNSAFE, SINKING AND UNAPPEALING WALL
ALONG TURNER ROAD.
6. CREATION OF AN AESTHETIC STREETSCAPE ALONG TURNER
ROAD.
7. ADDITION OF A RECREATION TRAIL SYSTEM FOR SCHOOL KIDS,

ON THE WEST END. WILL ALSO NEED TO REGRADE SLOPES.
