HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 2013-223RESOLUTION NO. 2013-223 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING REMOVAL OF SCHOOL CROSSWALK AND ALL ASSOCIATED SIGNAGE AND STRIPING ON HOLLY DRIVE WEST OF FAIRMONT AVENUE WHEREAS, on May 10, 2013, the City Council adopted a resolution to vacate the pedestrian access between Holly Drive and Daisy Avenue, west of Fairmont Avenue. This pedestrian access and the mid -block school crosswalk were necessary to provide a connection between Washington Elementary School and the Daisy Avenue residential area until Lodi Unified School District modified the school boundaries so that students residing north of Holly Drive now attend Lakewood School; and WHEREAS, pedestrian surveys were conducted on November 18, 2013 and November 19, 2013, during student drop-off and pick-up periods, and only one student was observed using the crosswalk in these surveys. Staff contacted the Washington Elementary School principal and the Chief of Police and received no objection to the crosswalk removal; and WHEREAS, staff recommends the removal of the school crosswalk and all associated signage and striping on Holly Drive west of Fairmont Avenue. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby approve the removal of the school crosswalk and all associated signage and striping on Holly Drive west of Fairmont Avenue.
