HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 2013-130RESOLUTION NO. 2013-130 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE PURCHASE AGREEMENTS WITH VARIOUS VENDORS FOR REDUNDANT NETWORK EQUIPMENT WHEREAS, Information Systems Division will be moving its data center into new quarters as part of the City Hall Annex renovation project, a process that will take an entire weekend and involve unplugging, moving, reconnecting, and testing all network devices in the Annex data center. Without redundant network components in place, the entire network will be down for most of the weekend; and WHEREAS, in anticipation of this move, and in an effort to keep fixed network reads flowing and critical public safety systems operational, staff recommends the purchase of network equipment that will provide redundancy or "failover" when the main system goes down; and WHEREAS, staff has received bids for the equipment, however, some items may not be available from selected vendors when the City is in a position to order them. Staff will exercise diligence in selecting a different vendor and purchasing the item at the same or lesser price; and WHEREAS, staff recommends that City Council authorize the City Manager to execute purchase agreements with various vendors for the redundant network equipment at a price not to exceed $56,798. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby authorize the City Manager to execute purchase agreements with various vendors for redundant network equipment at a price not to exceed $56,798.
