HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 2011-29RESOLUTION NO. 2011-29 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF MOTOROLA PORTABLE RADIOS UTILIZING COPS AND JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANTAMERICAN RECOVERYAND REINVESTMENTACT GRANT FUNDING WHEREAS, the City of Lodi's Police and Fire departments have until 2013 to meet with new radio communication standards set by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), and by adopting the digital standards of the NTIA's "Project 25," the City will be able to communicate via radio with other agencies and mutual aid response teams in emergencies; and WHEREAS, the Police Department began the migration to Project 25 standards in late 2009, when it purchased 60 portable Motorola radios using federal Justice Administration Grant funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act; and WHEREAS, Motorola is offering to provide the remaining 67 new portable radios and needed accessories at a considerable cost savings for the Police Department at $82,054.99 and after March 31, 201 1, the cost will increase to $141,658.83. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby approve the purchase and utilization of funds from the State of California Citizens Options for Public Safety (COPS) Grant for Fiscal Year 2010/11 and the American Recovery and ReinvestmentAct Justice Assistance Grant for the portable radios.
