No action is required. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: In accordance with the Contract Change Order Policy, the City Council is being informed of change orders approved by the City Manager for this project. The original contract for this project was $2,372,000.00. The total cost of change orders to date is $65,084.34 (or 2.7%). The project is approximately fifty percent complete. Detailed below is a complete description of the work involved in the change orders. More detailed descriptions and backup information for these change orders is available in the Public Works Department. Change Order No. 1 - This change order is for the removal of abandoned railroad utility poles on what is now City property. These poles were not addressed in the property purchase agreement and had to be removed for construction of the new platform. ($1,072.00) Change Order No. 2 - This change order is for the removal of a buried (unknown condition) railroad spur track on the east side of the old depot location. ($8,712.00) Change Order No. 3 - This change order covers the cost of providing seventeen street lights (to match downtown) for installation along Sacramento Street. Nine (9) of these lights were originally to be provided as part of the west side improvements to Sacramento Street. ($63,216.34) Change Order No. 4 - This change order covers the cost of trenching and placing electrical conduit, as requested by the Electric Utility Department, for their future use. ($2,061.00) Change Order No. 5 - This change order covers the cost of removing buried concrete footings from the old freight depot which were in the way of new construction activities. ($2,382.00) Change Order No. 6 - This change order covers the cost of replacing the existing wood wainscot and tongue -and -groove wall paneling at the depot building. The contract called for the original wood to remain. During construction, it was determined that the existing wood was not in a condition to be reused. ($15,984.00) Change Order No. 7 - This change order covers the cost of new site light fixtures and poles. The specified light poles needed to be upgraded to meet Building Code requirements. ($8,066.00) Change Order No. 8 - This change order is to provide structurally required Glu -laminated wood beams and steel connectors at the pedestrian shelters. ($8,959.00) Change Order No. 9 - This change order covers the cost of additional underground utility work necessitated by unknown subsurface conditions (rock, debris and water). ($5,304.00) Change Order No. 11 - This change order is to cover the cost of removing and replacing the existing sidewalk and tree wells on the east side of Sacramento Street near Pine Street. This work was originally to be included in the west side of Sacramento Street Improvement Project. It was decided that it is better to coordinate this work with other construction activities on the current project. ($8,816.00) Change Order No. 12 - This change order covers the cost of HVAC (heat and air conditioning) alterations at the South Annex building. ($1,720.00) Change Order No. 13 - This change order is a credit for the deletion of the improvements to the area on the north side of Pine Street at the old depot location. This work is not needed if a future park-and-ride structure is built on that site. ($65,749.00) FUNDING: There are sufficient funds budgeted in the Multimodal Station Project account to cover these thirteen change orders ($65,084.34). The total contract to date is $2,437,084.34.
