RESOLUTION NO. 11O
WHEREAS, J. F. Blakely, City Clerk of this City is a
private in Company B of the 10th Kegiment of Infantry, California
National Guard, and,
WHEREAS, said Company B has been called for active
duty to be performed at places unknown in the State of California
which w i 11 cause his absence from this City, and,
WEEREAS, this City Council of the City of Lodi deems
that tire said J. F. Blakely for over twenty years, City Clerk
and Assessor of this City, would serve the Nation, the State of
California and this community far better if retained in his
present position in the performance of essential governmental
functions for which his training has fitted him rather than
performing service under arms that may be well performed by
younger men who may he spared from positions not essential to
the continuance of local overnment, and,
WEEREAS, there is no trained personnel in this City
ready to take over the duties of his office, there being only
three employees therein all working to their utmost 1 i m i t,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that this City Council hereby requests
that the said J. F. Nlakely he fraiasfemed to the reserve of the
State Guard or discharged from. its service so that he may
continue to act in his present civil position.

regular meeting; of said Council held Wednesday,
December 17, 1941 by the following vote:
