HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 1029In the City council City of Lodi Lodi, California RESOLUTION NO. 1029 IN THE MATTER CF THE CONTINUANCE CF THE LODI OFFICE CF THE DEPARTMENT CF EMPLOY - KENT AND ON NEW QUARIFRS RIZ THE SAME. WHEREAS for the past five years, this City Council of the City of Lodi has furnished quarters, including water, light, heat and janitor service, for the Lodi office of the State Department of Employment, without any cost whatever to either the State of California or to the Federal Government, and, WHEREAS this City council, noting that the quarters occupied in the City Hall were becoming inadequate for the use of the said Department of Employment, and the City itself being in need of the room occupied, did appoint a Committee of its members to secure space in some privately owned building and to lease the same at this City's expense for occupancy by the said Department of Employment, and, WHEREAS, after considering all locations available In Lodi, there being few such suitable in Lodi, the said Committee recommended that, instead of leasing, better quarters could be obtained more suited in space and location for this purpose by erecting a building, part of which would accomodate the Employment Department, and, WHEREAS, thereupon, and before any action had been taken to discontinue the Lodi office of the Department of Employment, this Uity Council did order plans and specifications drawn for such a building, and the same were prepared and submitted to this Council and approved by it wherein in excess of one thousand two hundred (1,200) square feet of space would be provided for the said Department, in a very suitable location, and, WHEREAS, despite these actions taken, we are informed that certain Federal officers of said Department continue to recommend that the Lodi office be merged with that in Stockton, solely on the grounds that the present office space is inadequate and we do not believe that these officers have given full consideration of our acts and intentions in this matter and of the benefits of this office to this community, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED, by this the City Council of the City of Lodi, that MR. FRAN( H. BUCK, our representative in Congress and MR. HIRAM JOIANSCN our Senator, be urged to use their efforts to effect the retention of this office in Lodi and to apprise the Department of Employment that the continuation of this office i s of utmost importance to employer and employed in the Lodi District. 0 Certified to be a full, true and correct copy of Resolution No. 1029 of the City Council of the City of Lodi as passed and adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the Council present at a regular meeting.of said Council held Wednesday, February 7, 19}.0. . o .
