BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The following actions were taken at the last regular Planning
Commission meeting of November 25, 1996:
a. Conditionally approved Use Permit U-96-11, request of Oakmont
Retirement Communities, for a use permit to allow the construction
of a 53,000 square -foot two-story senior residential facility for the
elderly at 2220 West Kettleman Lane.
b. The Planning Commission had received a referral from San Joaquin
County regarding the development at the northeast intersection of
Highway 12 and Thornton Road (Flying J Truck Stop) and decided
that they would not take any action. They instructed David
Morimoto, Senior Planner, to notify San Joaquin County and voice
their concern in regards to the cancellation of the Williamson Act for
the parcel and the potential traffic problems that might be created by
the project.
