AGENDA TITLE: Contract Award for Recreation Office Reception and Lobby Remodel,
125 North Stockton Street ($34,880)
MEETING DATE: October 2, 1996

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt the attached resolution awarding the contract
for the above project to McFadden Construction, of Stockton, in the
amount of $34,880, and appropriate funds in accordance with the
recommendation shown below.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project will provide the Recreation Division's office reception
area and lobby with new cabinets, countertops, vinyl flooring,
carpet, main electrical panel, electrical raceways, computer outlets,
and paint. When completed, the reception and lobby areas will be
in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.
City staff has discussed the bid results with McFadden Construction and contacted references provided
by Mr. McFadden. This contractor is confident he can do the work for the price he quoted. His
references all said they would not hesitate in using McFadden Construction for future projects.
Plans and specifications for this project were approved on August 21, 1996. The City received the
following six bids for this project:

A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL
AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR RECREATION OFFICE
RECEPTION AND LOBBY REMODEL
WHEREAS, in answer to notice duly published in accordance with law and the
order of this City Council sealed bids were received and publicly opened on September
18, 1996 at 11:00 a.m. for Recreation Office Reception and Lobby Remodel, 125 North
Stockton Street, described in the specifications, therefore approved by the City Council on
August 21, 1996; and
WHEREAS, said bids have been compared, checked, and tabulated and a report
thereof filed with the City Manager as follows:

WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends award of the contract for Recreation
Office Reception and Lobby Remodel, 125 North Stockton Street, to the low bidder,
McFadden Construction of Stockton, CA; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lodi City Council that the award of
the bid for Recreation Office Reception and Lobby Remodel, 125 North Stockton Street,
be and the same is hereby awarded to McFadden Construction of Stockton, CA, the low
bidder, in the amount of $ 34,880.00; and
FURTHER RESOLVED that $42,000.00 be appropriated from the Capital Outlay
Reserve Fund to cover this project:

I hereby certify that Resolution No. 96-144 was passed and adopted by the City
Council of the City of Lodi in a regular meeting held October 2, 1996, by the following

Councilman Davenport requested the breakdown of the low bid contractor's prices at
