Home My WebLink AboutAgenda Report - September 18, 1996 (84)CITY OF LODI COUNCIL COMMUNICATION 1 AGENDA TITLE: Purchase of 12kV Padmounted Switchgear i MEETING DATE: September 18, 1996 I SUBMITTED BY: Electric Utility Director I RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt the attached resolution awarding the bid for the purchase of seven (7) 12kV padmounted switchgear units to Trayer Engineering Corporation of San Francisco, CA in the amount of $129,504.90. BACKGROUND: On August 7, 1996, the City Council approved specifications and authorized advertisement for bids for seven (7) padmounted switchgear units. On August 28, 1996, four bids were opened and evaluated. Although none of the bids meet specification, one bid, Trayer Engineering Corp., was dimensionally outside our specification a minor amount (411). Trayer's bid met j all other specifications and is within dimension requirements for use on our system. The other bids were not acceptable as they substantially did not meet specifications. It is recommended the Trayer Engineering Corp. bid be accepted with options 1 and 2 as follows: Option 1 Changes the tank, sill and door requirements from mild steel to 304 stainless steel. It is recommended this option be accepted due to lower maintenance costs and lower life-cycle costs. Option 2 Alternate fuse manufacturer lowers the Trayer Switch costs for items #1 & #2. D3 - no Viewing Window, sect.DS RESOLUTION NO. 96-128 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AWARDING THE BID FOR THE SEVEN 12KV PADMOUNTED SWITCHGEAR WHEREAS, in answer to notice duly published in accordance with law and the order of this City Council sealed bids were received and publicly opened on August 28, 1996 at 11:00 a.m. for 12KV Padmounted Switchgear, as described in the specifications, therefore approved by the City Council on August 7, 1996; and WHEREAS, said bids have been compared, checked, and tabulated and a report thereof filed with the City Manager as shown on Exhibit A attached; and WHEREAS, four bids were received and evaluated; and although none of the bids meet specification, one bid, Trayer Engineering Corp. was dimensionally outside our specification a minor amount (4"), Trayer's bid met all other specifications and is within dimension requirements for use on our system; and WHEREAS, it is staff's recommendation to award the bid to Trayer Engineering Corp., with options 1 and 2 as follows: Option 1 Changes the tank, sill and door requirements from mild steel to 304 stainless steel. WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends award of the contract for seven 12KV Padmounted Switchgear units, including Options 1 and 2, to Trayer Engineering Corporation of San Francisco, CA in the amount of $129,504.90; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lodi City Council that the award of the bid for seven 12KV Padmounted Switchgear units, including Options 1 and 2, be and the same is hereby awarded to Trayer Engineering Corporation of San Francisco, CA, in the amount of $129,504.90; and Dated: September 18, 1996 hereby certify that Resolution No. 96-128 was passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Lodi in a regular meeting held September 18, 1996, by the following vote: AYES: COUNCIL.
