AGENDA TITLE: "No Parking" on Vine Street West of Stockton Street at Pacific Coast Producers
MEETING DATE: August 7, 1996
PREPARED BY: Public Works Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt a resolution approving the installation of
60 feet of no -parking zone on the south side of Vine Street west of
Stockton Street, as shown on Exhibit A.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Public Works Department recently received a concern from
Pacific Coast Producers (PCP) that large trucks operating at the
plant may not have sufficient turning room to exit onto Vine Street
unless some on -street parking is eliminated. In order to safely
accommodate the turning needs of these trucks, PCP has requested that parking be prohibited along a
60 -foot portion of Vine Street. This will result in the loss of parking area for three vehicles. PCP is
currently in operation and temporarily restricting parking in this area under an Encroachment Permit
issued by the Department.
Although parking in the area is in high demand, based on the need to provide sufficient turning room for
vehicles operating at the plant, staff recommends the installation of this no -parking zone.
FUNDING: Funding for the installation of 60 feet of no -parking zone from the Street Maintenance
Account at an approximate cost of $100.
