HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - August 7, 1996 (97)AGENDA TITLE: Acceptance of Improvements Under Street Light Installation Project, Various Arterial and Collector Streets Contract MEETING DATE: August 7, 1996 PREPARED BY: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council accept the improvements under the "Street Light Installation Project, Various Arterial and Collector Streets" contract and direct the City Engineer to file a Notice of Completion with the County Recorder's office. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project was awarded to M & M Electric, of Sacramento, on November 1, 1995 in the amount of $256,246. The contract has been completed in substantial conformance with the plans and specifications approved by the City Council. The contract completion date was April 29, 1996 and the actual completion date was March 21, 1996. The final contract price was $253,996. The difference between the contract amount and the final contract price is mainly due to a reduction in the amount of mast arms and luminaires that were furnished by the Contractor. Acceptance of the contract was delayed because M & M Electric notified the City they would be filing a claim for additional money. That claim was received by the City in June. Council rejected the claim at its meeting of July 17, 1996 and this project is now ready for acceptance. FUNDING: Federal Hazard Elimination/Safety (HES) funds Jack .
