HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 2008-135RESOLUTION NO. 2008-135 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCILAUTHORIZING SUBMISSION OF MEASURE K SMART GROWTH INCENTIVE PROGRAM GRANT APPLICATION TO SAN JOAQUIN COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS WHEREAS, over the past year, City staff has worked with the planning design consultant, Moore lacofano Goltsman, on organizing and facilitating several steering committee meetings, walking tour, two community workshops, preparing design guidelines, and preliminary design alternatives for Lodi Avenue from Cherokee Lane to the Union Pacific Railroad. The project is a continuation cf the Lodi Central City Railroad Safety Improvement Project and the 2005/2006 Eastside Mobilityand Access Plan; and WHEREAS, San Joaquin Council of Governments has a total of $1.5 million identified this year for Measure K Smart Growth Incentive Program projects for local agencies: and WHEREAS, the types of improvements included in the Measure K Smart Growth Incentive Program include infrastructure improvements, which encourage pedestrian, bicycle and transit trips: transit improvements; street calming and streetscape improvement projects; and walkable community projects; and WHEREAS, the Measure K Smart Growth Incentive Program grant application will include these types of improvementsfor Lodi Avenue. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby authorize staff to submit a Measure K Smart Growth Incentive Program grant application to the San Joaquin Council cf Governments for funding for improvements to Lodi Avenue from Cherokee Lane to the Union Pacific Railroad.
