Hansen RECOMMENDED ACTION: Authorization for sole source purchase of ten Motorola DVP capable portable radios at $10,904.58. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Lodi Police Department is budgeted to replace ten Motorola Saber 1 (DVP capable) portable radios, during the current fiscal year. This is the second year purchase of a three-year replacement plan that was initially approved in the 1995-96 FY budget. These radios, due to their secure channel capability, are proprietary through Motorola and are consistent with existing department radios. Most of the current police Motorola MX radios are from 15 to 20 years old and have far outlived their usefulness. These radios are becoming unrepairable due to their age and parts replacement availability. The unit price for the radios is consistent with radios purchased within the past year. The total cost of the radios, chargers, programming and tax is $20,904.58. FUNDING: Budget Account 12.0-013.12 517 for $21,400.00 has been allocated for the purchase of the radios under significant expenditures budget. APPROVED: Larry D.
