RESOLUTIONNO. 1185.
WHEREAS, this City Council considers it to be to
the public interest that each of the present elective
officers of the city, other than members of the City
Council, to -wit, the City Treasurer and the City Clerk,
and eaeh of them, be appointed by the City Council as are
other administrative officers and heads of departments
of said city, and
` :, Section 852-b of the Municipal Corpora-
tion Act as amended by Chapter 659 of the Statutes of
1937 authorizes the submission by this City Council, to
the electors of the city at a general municipal election,
the question whether said elective officers or any of
them shall, after the expiration of the terms of office
of the persons now holding such offices, be appointed
and serve at the pleasure of this City Council, and,
WHEREAS, a general municipal election w i l l be
held and conducted in this city on Tuesday the 11th day
of April, 1944, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that there shall be submitted to
the electors of this city voting at said general municipal
election. each of the following separate questions:
"Shall the City Council of the City of Lodl
hereafter appoint the City Clerk of said City?"
"Shall the City Council of the City of Lodi
hereafter appoint the City Treasurer of said
city?"
The City Clerk of said City 1.6 hereby authorized
and directed to cause each of the said questions to be
printed upon the ballots to be used at said general
municipal electron and to give notice thereof in time,
form and manner as prescribed by law.

day of January 1944, by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen Weihe, Coffiald, Riegs, Spooner & Rinn,(Mayor)
NOES: Councilmen Mona
