RESOLUTION NO. 1178

ADMINISTRATION OF THE CITY OF LODI.
WHEREAU, due to war conditions, it is often impossible
to secure a sufficient number of applicants for vacancies in the
classified service of this City to comply with the provisions
of Section 5 of hule VII of "Rules for Personnel Administration,
City of Lodi, California" which said Rules were approved by
this City Council on June 3, 1912 by its Hesolution No. 1127,
BE IT RESOLVED, that the said Section 5 be, and the
same is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 5. Original Appointment. In the event an
appointing authority shall desire to fill a vacancy by original
appointment, the personnel clerk shall certify to him the three
names at the top of the list for that class or, in the event of
two or more vacancies in one class, he shall certify two names
more than the number of vacancies. He shall certify, in addition,
the name next in order on the eligible list to replace that of
each certified eligible who is unwilling to accept appointment.
If insufficient names are available to meet this requirement,
the appointing authority may request additional certification,
whereupon the personnel clerk shall schedule and conduct an
examination to provide the number of eligibles required. Provided
that should such an examination fail to secure a list of elipsibles
three or more in number and it shall be apparent that further exam-
inations would be of no avail; then appointment may be made from
such list of less than three eligibles.
This resolution shall be in force and take effect on
the date of its adoption and the L'it,y U1e.rk shall file a certified
copy hereof with the Board of heview, Personnel System immediately
after the date of such adoption.
