MEETING DATE: June 5, 1996
PREPARED BY: Public Works Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: The City Council authorize the City Manager to file the attached
application for 1995/96 Federal Transit Assistance (FTA) funds in the
amount of $487,490. Of these funds, $175,170 is for operations and
$312,320 is for capital. The capital items include two replacement
vehicles for Dial -a -Ride, additional shelters and benches, and funds for the restoration of the
Southern Pacific Train Depot.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Each year, the City of Lodi receives an allocation of Federal transit
funds for support of our Dial -a -Ride and fixed -route bus system. In
order to obtain these funds, we must file a grant application which
must be approved by the Federal Transit Administration. This
grant application is an integral part of our funding for transit activities in the City of Lodi.
The grant application includes $175,170 for operations and $312,320 for capital items. The capital
items include two replacement vehicles for Dial -a -Ride, additional shelters and benches, and the
restoration of the Southern Pacific Depot. In conjunction with these funds, we are filing a claim for
Transportation Development Act (TDA) and State Transit Assistance (STA) funds in the amount of
$1,781,738 (see Regular Calendar item entitled Approve 1995/96 Transportation Development Act
(TDA) Claim).
The City Council should remain aware that our transit operation is fully funded with earmarked dollars
so the transit operation is not dependent on General Fund money.
FUNDING: None required.
