RESOLUTION NO. 1980
WHEREAS, the City of Lodi, San Joaquin County, California,
a municipal corporation constituting a portion of the North San
Joaquin Water Conservation District, is in dire need of a
supplemental supply of water to replenish the depleted under-
ground water basin in said District; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lodi is interested in obtaining such
supplemental supply of water from the American River by means
of the Folsom South Canal proposed to be constructed by the
United States Bureau of Reclamation from Folsom Dam at Nimbus
southward through the Counties of Sacramento and San Joaquin; and
WHEREAS, through the so-called "California Water Plan" and
the report entitled "San Joaquin County Investigation - Bulletin
No. 11", the State Water Resources Board has heretofore indi-
cated that the American River is a logical source for the required
supplemental water supply of San Joaquin County, the North San
Joaquin Water Conservation District and the City of Lodi; and
WHEREAS, to make such American River waters available to
the North San Joaquin Water Conservation District and the City
of Lodi will require the construction of said Folsom South
Canal, and before such construction can be authorized by the
Congress, the Bureau of Reclamation must first complete its
present studies and feasibility report on the extension of said
Canal to San Joaquin County;
NOW, THEREFOR , be it resolved that the City Council of
the City of Lodi respectfully request said Bureau of Reclamation
to complete its present studies and feasibility report of the
extension of the Folsom South Canal to and through San Joaquin
County as soon as possible, and as soon as practicable thereafter,
to obtain the required authorization and appropriation of funds
from the Congress for the construction and completion of said
Folsom South Canal.
