HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - June 19, 1996 (77)AGENDA TITLE: Plans and Specifications and Advertisement for Bids for White Slough
Water Pollution Control Facility Holding Pond No. 3 Embankment Rehabilitation,
12751 North Thornton Road
MEETING DATE: June 19, 1996
PREPARED BY: Public Works Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council approve the plans and specifications for the above
project and authorize advertising for bids.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Since the four holding ponds at the White Slough Water Pollution
Control Facility were constructed in 1967, the levee embankments
have been eroding into the bottom of the ponds. The severity of
last winter's storms and the storms in 1994 have also accelerated
the erosion of the levees.
This project will reconstruct the levee embankments of Pond No. 3 and reface them with riprap. This is
the second year of a four-year project. Last summer, Pond No. 2's levee embankments were
rehabilitated. The City will be rehabilitating one pond each year until all four ponds have been
reconstructed.
FUNDING: The money for this project will be coming from the Sewer Capital Outlay Fund. A request
for appropriation of funds will be made at contract award.
Project Estimate: $190,000
Planned Bid Opening Date: July 24, 1996
