RESOLUTION NO. 1900
RESOLUTION REQUESTING ALLOCATION OF AMPLE
FUNIS TO THE CORPS OF ENGINES OF THE
UNITED STATES ARMY IN ORDER TO MADE STUDY
ON THE MORELUMNE RIVER AND ITS TRIBUTARIES
WHEREAS, recent intense storms along the western water-
shed of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in the State of California
havd produced the most serious flood conditions along the water
courses draining said watershed; and
'TEAS, the Mokelumne River is a river draining said
watershed; and
WHEREAS, the recent intense storms caused the Mokelumne
River to overflow and inflict extensive loss of and damage to
public and private property including widespread damage to and
destruction of county highways and the flooding of a large area
of valuable farm lands; and
WHEREAS, additional funds should be allocated to the
Corps of Engineers of the United States Army to complete their
study of the Mokelumne River and its tributaries in the interest
of flood control and other purposes;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Lodi declares the need for and urges that ample Funds
be allocated to the Corps of Engineers of the United States
Army in order that the Chief of Engineers may have sufficient
funds to complete their study of the Mokelumne River and its
tributaries in the interest of flood control and otlber purposes.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chief of Engineers of
the United States Amey be requested to allocate funds to complete
such study on the Mokelumne River and its tributaries at the
earliest possible time.
CERTIFIED to be a full, true and correct copy
of Resolution No. 1900 of the City Council of
the City of Lodi as passed and adopted in regu-
lar meeting held February 1] 1956.
