HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 1776In the City Council City of Lodi Lodi, California RESOLUTION NO. 1776 DECLARING THE INTENTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LODI TO GIFT DEED LODI MUNI- CIPAL LAKE PARK TO THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA WHEREAS, the City -owned aquatic park known as Lodi Municipal Lake Park was established and developed for the benefit and enjoyment of the people of the City of Lodi, and WHEREAS, in more recent years, due to the heavy influx of people to the State of California, the predominant number of visitors to the Park are from places other than the City of Lodi, and WHEREAS, it has become an increasingly heavy burden to the taxpayers of the City to operate and maintain the Park for people other than the residents of the City of Lodi, and WHEREAS, the State Division of Beaches and Parks through the State Park Commission is authorized and invested with the responsibility of providing recreation areas for the benefit and enjoyment of the people of the State of California, and WHEREAS, under authority of Chapter 1422, Statutes of 1945, there is appropriated *15,000,000 for acquisition of land for beaches and parks and a condition of the appropriation is that all State funds expended for such purposes must be matched dollar for dollar either in cash or land value by agencies or individuals other than the State of California, and WHEREAS the State Division of Beaches and Parka through its staff and Park Commission has investigated and determined Lodi Municipal Lake Park and adjacent land to be suitable for State park purposes, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Lodi through the City Council, in cooperation with the State Park Commission of the State of California, has adopted this resolu- tion to gift deed to the State of California the City -owned Lodi Municipal Lake Park to be used as matched credit toward an enlarged State park along the Mokelumne River and is so doing requests the State Park Commission to proceid with the establishment of a State park at this point at their very earliest con'renience; IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Lodi is willing to continue the operation of that portion of the project being gift deeded for matching purposes until such time as the State Legislature has appropriated or money has otherwise become available for administration of the project. 0 Certified to be a full, true and correct copy of Resolution No. 1776 of the City Council of the City of Lodi passed in adjourned meeting held Wednesday, October 2$, 1953.
