RESOLUTION NO. 17,E
REQUESTING THE CALIFORNIA STATE HIGHWAY COMMISSION
TO GIVE FAVORABLE CONSIDERATION TO THE WIDENING OF
HIGHWAYS 50 AND 99 IN SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY AND TO
CERTAIN OTHER IMPROVEMENTS OF INTEREST AND CONCERN
TO THE CITY OF LODI AND SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lodi does
recognize and is disturbed by the extreme traffic congestion
and attendant dangers presently existing on State Highways 50
and 99 throughout San Joaquin County; and
WHEREAS, said City Council considers that construction
of a new bridge across the Mokelumne Riker on Sign Route 8
at Clements would improve traffic flows, reduce hazards and
inure to the benefit of the City and to San Joaquin County;
and
WHEREAS, said City Council considers that early comple-
tion of the Rio Vista Cutoff from the Mokelumne River to the
Sacramento River would likewise improve traffic flows, reduce
hazards and unure to the benefit of the City of Lodi and to
San Joaquin County; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that said City Council respectfully
request and urge the Highway Commission of the State of Califor-
nia to take the necessary steps for the widening of Highways 50
and 99 to four lanes throughout San Joaquin County, priorities
of the various sections to be left to the discretion of said
Commission, and be it further
RESOLVED, that said City Council rc§p§0ru)].y request
and urge the Highway Commission of the State of California to
give early and favorable consideration to the construction of
.a new bridge across the Mokelumne River on Sign Route d8 at
Clements and the completion of the Rio Vista Cutoff from the
Mokelumne River to the Sacramento River.
The foregoing Resolution 1739 was adopted by
the City Council of the City of Lodi in regular meeting
held April 15, 1953, all members present and voting
for such adoption.
