HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 1705 ERIn the City Council City of Lodi Lodi, California RESOLUTION NO. 1705 WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Joaquin is placing before the voters in the November election two propositions, one asking the approval of the issuance of bonds for a new County Building, totaling 46,500,000.00 and another asking the approval of the issuance of bonds for a new jail, totaling 0500,000.00, and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors is desirous of calling to the attention of the voters and taxpayers the seriousness of the housing problem of County offices, and WHEREAS, the County Court House is inadequate, expensive to maintain, suffering from wear and tear and certain structural defects and is a definite fire hazard, and WHEREAS, the construction of an adequate County Court House would mean a saving annually of approximately 436,000.00 per year of rentals for outside quarters for various County depart- ments, and WHEREAS, efficiency would materially be increased by having all. County departments being close together in one building thus saving a tremendous amount of transportation, keeping the employ- ees on the job working instead of traveling from department to department, and pooling of office machines and other equipment; now therefore, BE TT RgSOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LODI AS FOLLOWS: That the City Council hereby endorses the passage of the bond issues for the County Court House and Jail as an economy measure in County government; be it FURTHER RESOLVED, that a City -County Committee be established for the purpose of making a study as to the location of the Court House and Jail and to make such further studies as they deem necessary and such recommendations as they deem advisable to the Board of Supervisors; be it FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Committee be composed as follows: One member to be appointed by the Mayor of each of the in- corporated cities in San Joaquin County, five members to be appointed by the County Board of Supervisors, perferably residents in the unincorporated area; be it FURTHER RESOLVED, that the chairman of each of the Planning Commissions in the County or his designated representative from his Planning Commission act as consultants to the City -County Committee. u Certified to be a full, correct and true copy of Resolution No. 1705 of the City Council of the City of Lodi as passed and adopted October 22, 1952, by the .following vote: AYES: Councilmen, Preszler, Richey, Rinn, Robinson and Haskell NOE3: Councilmen, None ABSENT: Councilmen, None October 23, 1952
