RESOLUTION NO. 1696
AUTHORIZING CANVASS OF RESULT OF
VOTE CAST; AUTHORIZING REIMBURSE-
MENT FOR EXPENSES INCURRED; DIRECT-
ING NOTICE OF ELECTION TO BE GIVEN
WHEREAS, on the 5th day of September, 1952, there was
filed with the Board of Supervisors of the County of San
Joaquin a resolution by the City Council of the City of Lodi,
requesting that a special election called for:the 4th day
of November 1952, be consolidated with the General Election
to be held on said date, all in accordance with Section
16051.1 of the Elections Code of the State of California,
and
WHEREAS, on the 8th day of September 1952, the Board
of Supervisors of the County of San Joaquin duly and regularly
passed a resolution ordering consolidation of said special
election with said General Election; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lodi is desirous
of having the proposition to be voted on by the qualified
electors of the City of Lodi placed upon the Official Ballot
to be prepared by the County Clerk for said General Election
in order that said Special Election so consolidated m.ay be
1.E,1 d and conducted a:: one election and with only one form of
ballot to be used, thereby eliminating additional expense to
the City of Lodi, in the conduct of said Special Election,
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lodi is desirous
of having the official canvass of the vote cast on said measure

made by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Joaquin,
or by the County Clerk of said County in the event the said
Board of Supervisors so authorizes him to complete the official
canvass of all votes cast at said General Election, and the
result of the votes cast on the measure submitted to the voters
of the City of Lodi certified to the City Council of said
City, thereby giving authority for holding the election in
all respects as if there were only one election with only
one form of ballot to be used, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lodi is desirous
of defraying all expenses incurred in connection with the
holding of said Special Election;
NOW BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDERED that the City of Lodi
reimburse the County of San Joaquin for all necessary expenses
incurred by the County in conducting said Special Election.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED AND ORDERED that the City Council
of the City of Lodi does hereby authorize the Board of Super-
visors, or the County Clerk in the event said Clerk is authorized
by the Board of Supervisors to make the official canvass of
all votes cast at the Consolidated General Election and Special
County Bond Election, to canvass all votes cast for and against
the measure submitted to the voters of the City of Lodi and
to certify the result of the vote so cast to the City Council
thereof; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED AND ORDERED that notice of said
Special Election be published at least twice,not less than
thirty-one days before the said Election,for the time and in
the manner required by law in the "Lodi News-Sentinel", a
newspaper of general circulation published in the City of
Lodi. Such notice shall be in substantially the following
form:

NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION,
CONSOLIDATED WITH THE GENERAL
ELECTION TO BE HELD NOVEMBER
4, 1952.
Notice is hereby given to the qualified voters of the
City of Lodi that a Special Election has been called by the
City Council of the City of Lodi, for Tuesday, November 4,
1952, which election has been consolidated with the General
Election by order of the Board of Supervisors of the County
of San Joaquin, pursuant to Resolution No. 1695 filed with
said Board of Supervisors an September 5, 1952, in accordance
with the provisions of Section 10051.1 of the Elections Code
of the State of California.
That said Special Election will be held and conducted
on said date in each General Election precinct within the City
of Lodi between the hours of 7:00 o'clock a.m. and 7:00 o'clock
p.m. of said day, at which time there will be submitted to the
qualified electors of the City of Lodi the following City
Measure:
MEASURE TO BE VOTED ON:
"Shall the City Council of the City of Lodi authorize the
installation of fluoridation equipment to the municipal water
system in conformity with the specifications prescribed by
the directives, rules and regulations of the State of Califor-
nia."
For the purpose of holding said Special Election, the
election precincts, polling places and election officers of
the City of Lodi, designated in the official notice for the
General Election, to be published by the County Clerk, pursuant
to the provisions of Section 668 of the Elections Code of the
State of California, shall be identicalfor said Special Elec-
tion.

Reference to that portion of said official notice pertain-
ing to the City of Lodi, to be published for said General Elec-
tion, is hereby made for all particulars.
Notice is hereby further given that the City Council of
the City of Lodi has authorized the Board of Supervisors to
canvass the returns of said Special Election, in lieu of the
City Council, thereby giving authority for the holding of the
Election in all respects as if there were only one election
with only one form of ballot to be used, all as provided pur-
suant to the provisions of Section 10054 of the Elections Code
of the State of California.

Resolution No. 1696 passed by the City Council of
the City of Lodi in regular meeting held Wednesday,
September 17, 1952, by the following vote:
