The City Planning Commission of the City of Lodi has
reported to this City Council that the improvements existing
within the territory sought to be annexed are not inferior to
those required by the laws, ordinances and regulations now
existing within the City of Lodi. There are no subdivision•e
in this area.
The City Council of the City of Lodi hereby designates
the territory proposed for annexation THIRTY-NINTH ADDITION as
'an appropriate name to be used in reference thereto further in
these proceedings.
These proceedings are initiated by the City Council of
the City of Lodi for the following reasons:
(1) The territory described contains the site of the hospital
of the Lodi Memorial Hospital Association and the hos-
pital building thereon is rapidly nearing completion.
-2-
This building will require municipal water, sewer and
fire protection service and the Board of Trustees of
said Association have requested in writing that the
hospital site be annexed to and incorporated in the
City of Lodi.
(2) Extension of City zoning lawa, building and plumbing
regulations will protect the health and safety, not only
of residents of the annexed territory but also protect
the lives and health of City residents in the neighbor-
hood of the territory proposed to be annexed.
(3) The City can furnish fire and police protection to a
much better degree than can be furnished by the County
or any district therein on account of its facilities,
particularly water supply and accessibility to its central
fire and police stations.
(4) Annexation of this territory will further the purposes
of the Master Street and Highway Plan now in course of
preparation by the City Planning Commission of this City
and enable an orderly development of lands bordering on
and adjacent to this City.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, and notice is hereby given, that
this City Council has fixed WEDNESDAY THE 2ND DAY OF MAY, 1951,
AT 8:30 O'CLOCK P.M. of said day and the CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS,
CITY HALL, LODI, CALIFORNIA, as the time and place when and

Government Code of this State relative to proteats.
The City Clerk will cause a copy of this resolution to
be published for two consecutive weeks in The Lodi Tines, a
