RESOLUTION NO. 1597 DECLARING THE INTENTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LODI TO ANNEX CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY IN THE NORTH ONE-HALF OF SECTION 11 TOWNSHIP 3 NORTH, RANGE 6 EAST • SETTING A TIME PLACE FOR THE HEARING OF OBJECTIONS TO SUCH ANNEXATION AND DESIGNATING THE TERRITORY PRO- POSED TO BE ANNEXED AS "THIRTY-NINTH ADDITION" RESOLVED, that it -is the intention of the City Council of the City of Lodi, hereby expressed, to annex to said City, in accordance with the provisions of the Annexation of Unin- habited Territory Act of 1939, as amended, the following des- cribed and bounded uninhabited territory in San Joaquin County, contiguous to said City of Lodi, to wit: Portions of the Northwest one-quarter and of the North- east one-quarter of Section 11, Township 3 North, Range 6 East: Beginning on the present City Boundary line of the City of Lodi at the Northeast corner of the Northwest one-quarter of said Section 11 and running thence South 0° 10' Neat along the north and south one-half section line through said Section 11, 2650.4 feet to an axle,South 0° 10' West 5.8 feet from the center of said Section 11; thence South d9° 14' East 660 feet to a point on the west line of the county road known as Walnut Avenue; thence South 00 10' West &lpng oai.d west line 9664 feet to a point thereon thence North 89° 30' West, 660 feet to an axle on the north and south quarter section line; thence South 0° 10' West, 1641.5 feet to a point on the north line of Kettleaan Lane (State Highway 53), which point is 25 feet North 0° 10' East from the quarter section -1- corner; thence North 89° 07i' West along said north line 795 feet to the center line of the Woodbridge Irrigation District canal; thence Northerly along the center line of the canal 949 feet to a point thereon; thence South 89° 07i' East, 335 feet to a point 446.5 feet Westerly from the north and south quarter section line; thence North 00 10' East, feet to an axle; thence South 89° 03i' East, 296.5 feet to a point 150 feet westerly from the north and south quarter section line; thence North 0° 10' East, 3338 feet to a point on the north line of said Section 11; thence Easterly on and along said section line 150 feet to the point of beginning, containing 54.5 acres, more or leas. Reference is here made to a map or plat on file in the office of the City Clerk of this City delineating the boundaries next above described. The City Planning Commission of the City of Lodi has reported to this City Council that the improvements existing within the territory sought to be annexed are not inferior to those required by the laws, ordinances and regulations now existing within the City of Lodi. There are no subdivision•e in this area. The City Council of the City of Lodi hereby designates the territory proposed for annexation THIRTY-NINTH ADDITION as 'an appropriate name to be used in reference thereto further in these proceedings. These proceedings are initiated by the City Council of the City of Lodi for the following reasons: (1) The territory described contains the site of the hospital of the Lodi Memorial Hospital Association and the hos- pital building thereon is rapidly nearing completion. -2- This building will require municipal water, sewer and fire protection service and the Board of Trustees of said Association have requested in writing that the hospital site be annexed to and incorporated in the City of Lodi. (2) Extension of City zoning lawa, building and plumbing regulations will protect the health and safety, not only of residents of the annexed territory but also protect the lives and health of City residents in the neighbor- hood of the territory proposed to be annexed. (3) The City can furnish fire and police protection to a much better degree than can be furnished by the County or any district therein on account of its facilities, particularly water supply and accessibility to its central fire and police stations. (4) Annexation of this territory will further the purposes of the Master Street and Highway Plan now in course of preparation by the City Planning Commission of this City and enable an orderly development of lands bordering on and adjacent to this City. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, and notice is hereby given, that this City Council has fixed WEDNESDAY THE 2ND DAY OF MAY, 1951, AT 8:30 O'CLOCK P.M. of said day and the CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS, CITY HALL, LODI, CALIFORNIA, as the time and place when and where the objections of owners of real property within the boundaries of the territory proposed to be annexed will be heard and considered. Attention is directed to Section 35312 of the Government Code of this State relative to proteats. The City Clerk will cause a copy of this resolution to be published for two consecutive weeks in The Lodi Tines, a weekly newspaper printed, published and circulated in the City of Lodi and hereby deaignated for this purpose. -3- 1, J.
