AWARDING CC TRACT FOR CONCRETE SEWER
PIPE; RETECTING BID FOR INSTALLATION
THEREOF AND FI DING THAT INSTALLATION
CAN BE NCO EOOLOCALLY PERFORM sr

KOREAS, in accordance with notice duly published, sealed bids
were received and publicly opened on the 14th day of August, 1950
for materials and construction of " STORM SEER IN CROSS AND LAKE
STEMS " as reported by the City i knager, and,
WHEREAS, after tabulation and consideration of said sealed bids,
said City Manager recommends that award for the furnishing the pipe
only be awarded to T. W. MUMBERT CONCRETE PIPE COMPANY, in accordance
with its bid, as the lowest and best bidder and that the only bids
received for the laying of said pipe and the construction of six
manholes, be rejected as being in excess of the City Ehgineerts
estimate and in excess of the cost of doing said wank by day labor,
RESOLVED, therefore•, that this City Council concur in the_
recommendatioa of the City Manager and that award for furnishing
the pipe advertised be awarded to T. W. UDMURT. CONCRETE PIPE COMPANY
for $1,237.75 plus state sales tax and less 5% cash discount, all in
accordance with said bid;
RES0L ED, further that the sole and only bid received for the
installation.of said pipe and six manholes , that of Louis Biasotti
and Son, be, and the same is hereby rejected;
RESCUED, further, that this City Council hereby finds, determines
and declares that the work of installing said pipe and constructing
said manholes can be more economically performed by day labor that by
ready ertising for bids and hereby authorizes the City Manager to make
and enter into private contract or employ day labor necessary to perform
the installation of said stow sewers.

WAIVER OF NOTICE AND CONSENT TO SPECIAL MEETING.
We, the undersigned, being all of the members of the
City Council ,of tha: City .of -Lodi.,. do :hereby waive formal
notice of a special meeting of said City Council to be held
beginning at 1:30 -o'clock in the afternoon 'of Monday, August
7, 1950, in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, Lodi, Calif-
ornia, and do hereby consent that such meeting be held for
they purpose of:
CONSIDERATION OF MEANS TO ACCOMPLISH THE DEFERMENT
OF THE CITY -MANAGER FROM CALL TO SERVE IN THE ARMED
FORCES OF THE UNITED STATES. UNTIL SUCH TIME AS
THE NATIONAL SECURITY REQUIRE HI _ RVICES.
