HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 1490In the City Council, City of Lodi, Lodi, California RESOLUTION NO. 1422 APPROVING POWER PURCHASE CONTRACT WITH PACIFIC GAS AND ELECTRIC COMPANY FOR THE PERIOD ENDING AUGUST 27, 1955, AND DIRECTING EXECUTION THEREOF. witeatzAS, This City Council hereby finds and determines that it is to the beat interests of the City of Lodi that said City enter into a contract with Pacific Gas and Electric Company for the purchase by said City of its requirements of electrical energy, for use and resale, for the period ending August 27, 1955, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Mayor of this City be, and he is hereby authorized and directed, to execute said contract for and on behalf of the City of Lodi. A copy of said contract is annexed hereto and made part of this resolution as if get forth in full herein. BE IT FURZftuH RESOLVED, And hereby ordered, that the City Manager of this City, by letter, advise the Public Utility Com- mission of the State of California, the Bureau of Reclamation of the United States, the United States Senators representing the State of California, the Representative in Congress for the Third Congressional District and the City Councils of the Cities of Alameda, Biggs, Palo Alto, Gridley, Healdsburg and Ukiah, of the reasons impelling this City Council to enter into said contract: (i) That delivery of firm power to the City of Lodi from the Central Valley Project of the United States government, on the basis of the best information available to this City, cannot be made during the term of this contract; (2) That the savings in cost of power purchased by the City of Lodi over the six-year period of this contract will amount to approximately $28,000.00; (3) That the City Council of the City of Lodi does not believe that any further concessions as to power purchase rates can be obtained from Pacific Gas and Electric Company by this City at this time; (4) That at least four communities operating power dis- tributing facilities have signed similar contracts, according to the advice of Pacific Gas and Electric Company, which information is confirmed by the California Municipal Utilities Association; (5) That the signing of this contract is in no way to be construed as committing the City of Lodi in any controversy between privately or publicly owned electric distributing or generating systems.
