BLAKELY City Clerk RESOLUTION NO. 10 RESOLUTION URGING THAT THE OPERATION OF THE ALUMINUM PRODUCTION PLANT AT RIVERBANK, CALIFORNIA, BE RESUMED. Whereas, the government of the United States of America constructed a plant for the production of aluminum at Riverbank, Stanii .aus County, California, at a cost of more than twelve and one-half million dollars, which plant is now idle and non-productive although well situated for the reduction of aluminum ores, with electric power available in sufficient quantity to operate this plant at fill capacity, and, Whereas, Operation of this plant will make supplies of metallic aluminum available to the western coast without costly transportation and will give employment to many persons now un- employed, and, Whereas, the City Council of the City of Riverbank has initiated and is pursuing efforts to have this plant put into operation, and, Whereas, if this plant is rased and the materials therein salvaged, great loss will accrue to the United States and the production of aluminum in California will be seriously curtailed, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Lodi, that the efforts of the City of Riverbank be endorsed and that this City Council urges the United States Government to immediately prepare for and resume the pcmduction of aluminum at the said plant at Riverbank, California. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this Resolution be sent to the Honorable, Cecil F. White, Representative from the Ninth Congressional District of California, to the Honorable Sheridan 5. DowneytUnited States Senator for Calitrnta, to the Honorable William F. Knowland, United States Senator for California, to the Honorable Harry R. Sheppard, Chairman of the California Congressional Delegation, to the Honorable Jess S. Larsen, to the Honorable Donald F. Carpenter, to the Honorable John Steelman and to the Honorable Louis Johnson and to the Editors and Publishers of newspapers circulated in Lodi and vicinity. Passed by the City Council of the City of Lodi in regular meeting held May 18, 194.9, all Council. men being present and voting in favor thereof. Attest: City 0
