HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - May 15, 1996 (85)COUNCIL COMMUNICATION AGENDA TITLE: Purchase of Day Room Furniture for City Fire Stations ($6,023.23) MEETING DATE: May 15, 1996 SUBMITTED BY: Fire Chief RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt the attached resolution awarding the purchase of thirteen reclining chairs to the low bidder, California Office Furniture of Sacramento, in the amount of $6,023.23. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: On March 20, 1996, the City Council approved revised specifications and authorized advertisement for bids for thirteen commercial -grade reclining chairs for use in the day rooms at the City's three fire stations. Bid forms were sent to nine office furniture dealers; however, only two responded. Bids were opened on May 7, 1996: California Office Furniture, Sacramento $6,023.23 Durst Office Interiors, Stockton $6,885.23 The furniture in the fire station day rooms is approximately seven years old. This furniture is subject to heavy use and is worn beyond repair. The purchase of these thirteen recliners would provide fire safety personnel who are confined to 24-hour shifts adequate furniture for their rest and relaxation. These chairs have been selected by the department for both comfort and the commercial -grade warranty on mechanical parts, frame, and springs. DIXON FLYNN City Manager RESOLUTION NO. 96-51 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AWARDING THE BID FOR PURCHASE OF DAY ROOM FURNITURE FOR CITY FIRE STATIONS WHEREAS, in answer to notice duly published in accordance with law and the order of this City Council sealed bids were received and publicly opened on May 7, 1996 at 11:00 a.m. for the purchase of thirteen commercial -grade reclining chairs for use in the day rooms at the City's three fire stations, described in the specifications therefore approved by the City Council on March 20, 1996 and WHEREAS, said bids have been compared, checked, and tabulated and a report thereof filed with the City Manager as follows: Bidder Location California Office Furniture Sacramento $6,023.23 Durst Office Interiors Stockton $6,885.23 WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends award of the bid for the purchase of thirteen commercial -grade reclining chairs for use in the day rooms at the City's three fire stations, be made to the low bidder, California Office Furniture of Sacramento, CA; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lodi City Council that the award of the bid for the purchase of thirteen commercial -grade reclining chairs for use in the day rooms at the City's three fire stations, be and the same is hereby awarded to California Office Furniture of Sacramento, CA, the low bidder, in the amount of $6,023.23.
