HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 2370RES OLI;1:IUN NO. 2370 CHANGING THE JOB SPECIFICATIONS FOR EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE MAN XESOLVF'D, that the report of Cooperative Personnel Ser- vices, State of California Personnel Board, entitled "City of Lodi, Position Classification Survey, December, 1956," adopted by the City Council of the City of Lodi by passage of Resolution Na 1990, be and the same is hereby amended by adoption of the revised job specifications for the classi- fication of Equipment Maintenance Mn dated August 1960 attached hereto and made a part hereof. Dated: October 19, 1960 I r,+�rcby L rtix'y txAdt the foregoing resolution Na 2370 was duly and regularly passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Lodi at a regular meeting thereof held October 19, 1960, by the fol- lowing vote: Ayes: Councilmen - BROWN KATZAKI�IN, MITCHELL, ULLMrNN and CULBER SON No Councilman - None Absent: Councilmen ' None City Clerk" City of Lodi EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE MAN DDFINITI-8*: August 1960 Under general direction, to perform a wide variety of tasks in the maintenance of mechanical and automotive equipment; and to do related work as required. TASKS: Checks operating efficiency of automotive and road equipment and determines the extent of and the necessity for repeirs; performs minor maintenance on automotive equipment such as repairing and adjusting engines, transmissions, differentials, and clutches; tunes up engines; resets, and adjusts valves; replaces, fits, and adjusts bearings; replaces rods and gears; cleans, repairs, and replaces carburetors, fuel pumps, strainers, fuel lines, gasoline tanks, and guages; wires and reconditions electrical systems; adjusts spark plugs; tests and repairs starters and magnetos; recharges batteries; repairs and replaces generators, distributors, relays, light switches, and similar components; relines and adjusts brakes; removes and arranges for repair of radiators; installs water pumps and hoses; replaces water jacket plates and fans; installs axles; lubricates automotive and power equipment; drains and refills crankcase; inspects and fills gear boxes with lubricants; purchases automotive parts and materials; makes reports and maintains records of work done. DEME QUALIFICATIONS: Licenses Possession of a valid State chauffeur's license. f-dcreation and Experience: Two years of recent responsible ex- perience in the over-all mechanical repair of automotive and other power -driven equipment. Education equivalent to the completion of the eighth grade. Knowledaes and Abilities: Knowledge of the tools, equipment, and methods used in the repair and adjustment of motor equipment; Knowledge of the operation and care of internal combustion engines and of parts and replacements; Knowledge of the use of automotive shop tools; Knowledge of lubricating devices and materials and the maintenance service requirements of motor equipment. Ability to examine and locate mechanical difficulties with skill and accuracy; Ability to perform minor meohanical repairs on all equipment used in the public works department; Ability to use various machine tools with skill and accuracy; Ability t o maintain simple records and prepare brief reports,
