HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 2313RESOLIiT;ON NO. 2313 WHEREAS, the City of Lodi ie a municipal oorporation of the State of California, situate in San Joaquin County, on the banks of the Mokelumne River, and ,iIiEREAS, at numerous times in the past the eaid Mokelumne River has overflowed its banks and has flooded the adjaoent lands, properties, and homes of residents of the City of Lodi, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lodi has long been interested in furthering any program or plan which will tend to reduoe the possibilities of the flooding of the said Mokelumne River, and WHEREBY, the city Council of the City of Lodi is familiar with the report of the United Statee Corps of Engineers and its studies of the said Mokelumne River, ae well as with the proposed plans for the construction of a dam on said river by the Eaat Bay Munioipal Utility Dia trio t, ACIAT THEREFORE, be it resolve.i by the City Council of the City of Lodi as follovas 1. That the Senate of the United States be requested. to approve the report and recommendation of the United States Corps of Engineers that deals with the Mokelumne River in San Joaquin and Calaveras Counties of California. 2, That the Senate of the United States be requested to apprcve Federal Flood Control participation in the con- struction of the proposed dam of the Eae t Bay Munioipal Utility Diatriot ao that all neceeaary ana proper r:ooa control measures will be inoluded i n eaid project. 3. That a certified copy of this resolution be delivered to the proper euboommittee of the United States Senate. 4. That the Mayor of the City of Lodi, Fred M. Brown, is hereby authorized to present testimony and to file thi s resolution with the proper euboommittee of the United States Senate and off`ioially state the City of Coda's position with regard to the propoi.d oonetruction of the dam on the Mokelumne River.
