#EQUESTING STATE AUTHORIZATION FOR REFEEENOUM
ON OASI COVERAGE FOR POLICEMEN AND FIREMEN
dEREAB, the CITY OF LODI, hereinafter designated as
"Public Agency", desires to include services performed by
its employees in Policeman and Fireman positions covered by
tt:e BNPLORffis RETIREMENT SYSTEM in ttie California
State Social Security Agreement of liarch 9, 1951, providing
for the coverage of gubltc employees under the is savinae sys-
tem estb1ished by Title II oi' the Federal. Social. Security
Act, as amended j and
WHEREAS, State Lind Federal laws require, as ,A condition
of such coverage,thata referendum first be authorized by
the Board of Anistration, State 1eyees' Retirement
S,ystern and conducted anon the "eligible employees" (as
defined in Section 21S(d)(3) of the Social Security Acct)
oi' :i w Public Agency; and
WhEREA$, it is necessary that the Public Agency now desig-
nate any classes of positions covsred by said retirement system
which L t desires to exclude f roux coverage under said insurance
system;
Now, THEREFORE, 8 IT IiiiISOLVIW, that the Beard or Adminis-
tration, State Employees' Retirement System be end it is
hereby requested to authorize the f'orepoing referendum; and
13R I'1,' i tTER RESOLVED, that upon receipt of authorization
from the Board of ridruthistration, a referendum shall be gon-
ducted In aRaoriance with the requirements of Section 2xii(d)
of the Social Security Act, and applicable State and Federal
laws and regulations; that such referendum shall be held on
the question of whether service in positions covered by said
retirement system occupied by Policemen and Firemen should
be excluded from or included under ora agreement u.:d er t h e
Old•Age and Survivors' Insurance Fredre* under Title II or
the Soc=ial. Security at, :As herelabefore provided. with such
coverage effective as to services performed on and atter
JANUAR? 1, 1956; and
BE IT POTTER RESOLVED, that the following classes of
positions covered by sa td retirement system of the Public
Agency occupied by the Policemen and Firemen shall be excluded
fr' to coverage under said agreement: Elective positions.
