HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 2215RESOLUTION NO. 2215 PROCEDURE FOR CHANGING THE HAMS OF STR"TS WHEREAS from time to time requests are made to the CitY council of the City of Lodi for a change in street names; and W 4 S, it is the desire of the City Council to establish the procedure to be followed when rogLzests for the change of names of streets are made; NOW THEREFORE HE IT RESOLVED by the City Coancil of the city of Lodi that the following procedure be, and the same is hereby adopted, when requests are made for the change in the names of the streets in the City of Lodi: (1) All requests shall be in the form of a written petition setting forth the present name of the street and the suggested new name of the said street or streets. Said petition shall be signed by at least a majority of the residents or property owners located on the street or streets in question. (2) Said petition shall be accompanied by a filing fee in an amount to be fixed by the Director of Public Works of the City of Lodi. The amount of the filing fee shall be equal to the cost of changing the street signs in the area affected, the cost of publication of the notice of hearingg and any other cost which may be incurred by the City ©f Lodi,. (3) Said petition, with the filing fee, shall be pre- sented to the City Clerk who shall deliver the petition to the Planning Commission for their report and recommenda- tion at the meeting following the receipt of the petition by the City Clerk. (1-) The Planning CoE mmiSsion shall make their report and recommendation on the requested change in name to the City Council. (5) Upon receipt of the petition and report of the Planning Commission, the City Council shall set the matter for public hearing by publishing a notice in a newspaper of general circulation, printed and published in the city of Lodi, which publication shall be made one time at least ten days before the date set for the hearing. (b) At the hearing the City Council shall either grant or reject the petition. (7) In the event the name of the street is changed, then certified copies of the Resolution establishing the new name shall be sent to the San Joaquin County Recorder, San Joaquin County Assessor, San Joaquin County Surveyor, Pacific Gas & Electric Company, Pacific Telephone & Tele- graph Company, United States Yost Office, and any other agencies which may request copies of said Resolution. 1. (8) In the event said petition is not granted, then the money deposited to cover the cost of street signs shall be refunded to the petitioners. Dated: March 18, 1959.
