HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 2208R,SOLUTION NO. 2208 ENDORSING RESOLLTIION CF CALIFORNIA MUNICIPAL UTILITIES ASSOCIATION URGING D1 VELOPMt;NT CF PUBLIC P016;R FACILITIES ON TEL TRINITY RIVER WHhREAS, the City Council of the City of Lodi has had presented t o it a proposed resolution, attached hereto, of the California Municipal Utilities Association; and WHEREAS, said resolution urges the Congress of the United States to appropriate funds for fiscal year 1960 in order to permit irrunediate design and construction of the power facili- ties of the Trinity River Division of the Central Valley Project by the Federal Government; and WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Lodi wishes to go on record as being in accord with said resolution; NOW, TI3),B';FORt;, BE IT R1 SOLii.0, that the City Council of the City of Lodi does hereby endorse said resolution and does hereby instruct its Superintendent of Utilities to vote "Aye" thereon at the meeting of the California Municipal Utilities Association being held on February 26, 1959. I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the City Council of the City of Lodi, California at a regularly adjourned meeting thereof held February 25, 1959, by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen - Brown, Culbertson and Katzakian NOES: Councilmen - Mitchell and Robinson ABSENT: Councilmen - None +^`I Fr F4T �5 City Clerk • . RESOLUTION NO. WHEREAS, the California Municipal Utilities Associa- tion has repeatedly endorsed the construction of the Trinity River Division of the Central Valley Project as a fully inte- grated part of the Central Valley Project owned and operated by the Federal Government; and WAS, the Trinity River Division as now authorized provides for Federal construction and operation of power gener- ation and transmission facilities, and studies of the Depart- ment of the Interior show that it is economically feasible and sound. from an engineering standpoint as a Federal project; and *MS, the Congress of the United States has refused to approve proposals that a private utility be permitted to develop the power facilities on this Federal development; and WHEREAS, the California Municipal Utilities Associa- tionbelieves development of Trinity power by a private utility is not in the best public interest; and WAS, prompt construction of the power facilities at the Trinity River Division sites is imperative in order to avoid the wasting of a valuable public resource; NOW, i111uBE, BE IT RESOLVED that the California Municipal Utilities Association does urge the Congress of the United States to appropriate funds for fiscal year 1960 in order to pert immediate design and construction of the power facilities of the Trinity River Division of the Central Valley 1. • • Project by the Federal Government.
