EASTERLY EXTENSION CF LODI AVENUE
WEER S, the City Planning Comrgiss, ion of the City of Lodi
after considerable study has recommended the extension
of Lodi Avenue easterly from Cherokee Lane to the
east frontage road of the proposed freeway; and
WKEREASI the City Council finds that such an extension with
its consequent grade separation over the freeway
is very desirable and necessary to serve the expand-
ing industrial area along the Central California
Traction Company railroad east of the freeway; and
*iEF-EAS, Lodi Avenue, being a major City street with a future
pavement width to carry four lanes of traffic, is
far more suitable to carry east -west traffic than
Pine Street, the only other access to this area,
which leads directly througb the Central Business
District of the City; now, therefore,'
BE IT RESOLVED
1. That the City Council hereby authorizes the City
Engineer to proceed with negotiations to obtain
the required right-of-way for this easterly exten-
sion
xten-
sion of Lodi Avenuej
That the City Council go on record strongly in favor
of a freeway grade separation for the extension of
Lodi Avenue; and
3• That the Division or Highways be urged to authorize
this grade separation in the initial construction
of the freeway and that a copy of this resolution
be sent to the State Highway Commission.
