HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 3300RESOLUTION NO. 3300 RESOLUTION INCREASING THE TAX RATE FOR THE LIBRARY SERVICES TO THIRTY CENTS PER $100 ASSESSED VALUATION AND ESTABLISHING A LIBRARY CONSTRUCTION FUND Whereas, the City Council of the City of Lodi has had presentations made to it by the Lodi Library Board regarding the needs for a new library building and related facilities, and Whereas the library corniriittee of the Lodi District Chamber of Commerce has also recommended and recognized the need for a new Library building and facilities, and Whereas the City Council of the City of Lodi has no present intention of submitting a bond proposal to the citizens of Lodi for the construction of new Library facilities but in lieu thereof having determined that an increase in the tax rate of ten cents over a period of years will raise funds which will be available for the construction of a new library, Now, therefore, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Lodi that the tax rate for the library fund be increased from twenty cents to thirty cents per $100 assessed valuation and that ten cents of said tax rate shall be set aside and placed in a separate fund to be known as the "Library Construction Fund': and that said monies be invested with the income resulting therefrom to be added to and become a part of said fund, and Be it further resolved that said monies in said Library Construction Fund shall be used only for the purpose of constructing a new library and related facilities at such time as the City Council of the City of Lodi determines that said construction is feasible.
