AGENDA TITLE: Accept Improvements Under Contract for Lower Sacramento Road Resurfacing,
Turner Road to 400 Feet North of Eilers Lane
MEETING DATE: March 17, 1999
PREPARED BY: Public Works Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council accept the improvements under the
"Lower Sacramento Road Resurfacing, Turner Road to 400 Feet North of
Eilers Lane" contract and direct the City Engineer to file a Notice of
Completion with the County Recorder's office.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The project was awarded to Granite Construction, of French Camp,
on April 1, 1998, in the amount of $79,364.00. The contract has
been completed in substantial conformance with the plans and
specifications approved by the City Council.
The contract completion'date was October 19, 1998, and the actual completion date was October 7, 1998.
The final contract price was $91,646.49. The difference between the contract amount and the final
contract price is mainly due to additional time and material needed to remove and replace unsuitable
subgrade found under the existing pavement, additional work done on the traffic signal conduit and wiring
at the intersection of Lower Sacramento Road and Turner Road, and extra work done with San Joaquin
County to improve the pavement transition over the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. San Joaquin County will
reimburse the City approximately $6,000.00 for the work Granite Construction did to extend the new
pavement 200 feet north of the Union Pacific tracks.
FUNDING: Budgeted Fund: Street Fund (Federal) $70,260.00
Street Fund (Gas Tax) $29,740.00
Contract Amount: $91,646.49
