COUNCII, COMMUNICATION
AGENDA TITLE: Purchase of Mini Blinds for City Hall (approx. $6,000)
MEETING DATE: April 3, 1996
PREPARED BY: Public Works Director
The bid opening for the above project is April 3, 1996, the day of the City Council meeting.
It is important that the City Council make the award on these mini blinds at this time. Because each of
the windows is a custom installation and there are no uniform dimensions, we could not go to bid until
all the windows were fully installed.
Assuming there are no problems with the bids, a purchase recommendation will be presented at
the Council meeting.

AGENDA TITLE: Purchase of Mini Blinds for City Hall ($2,400)
MEETING DATE: April 3, 1996
PREPARED BY: Public Works Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt the attached resolution awarding the
purchase of the above project to Harold W. Thompson, Inc. in the
amount of $2,399.68.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project is to furnish and install mini blinds for the remodeled
City Hall. Replacement of existing mini blinds in City Hall was
originally included in the scope of work under the Civic Center
Improvements (Phase ll), City Hall Remodel. However, staff
recognized that a 15 to 20 percent markup by the general contractor could be avoided if bid as a
separate contract, so the window coverings were pulled from the project before it was bid. Purchase of
mini blinds must be done now in order to coordinate with the completion of the City Hall remodel.
Specifications for this project were approved on March 20, 1996. The City received the following seven
bids for this project:
Bidder Location Bid
Architect's Estimate $ 5,800.00*
Harold W. Thompson, Inc. Stockton $ 2,399.68
Gienger Floor Coverings Lodi $ 2,676.00
Wells Interiors Stockton $ 2,860.87
Walter's Carpet One Lodi $2,968.96
Contract Interiors Lodi $ 3,023.72
Moren's Window Coverings Lodi $ 3,206.68
Valley Shade Shop Stockton $ 3,833.34
*Note: This item was directed to the City Council because the estimate exceeded $5,000.00.
FUNDING: The money for this project ($2,400.00) is included in the City Hall Renovation Account
121.0-350.61
