A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT SAFE ROUTE TO SCHOOL GRANT
APPLICATIONS TO CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION (CALTRANS)
WHEREAS, Ca!trans has developed the "Safe Routes to School" Program under the
Federal Hazard Elimination and Safety Program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lodi recognizes the need for additional funding from the Safe Routes
to School Program to reduce accidental injuries and improve safety for those students walking and
bicycling to and from school; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lodi, in conjunction with the Lodi Unified School District, has worked
to identify candidate projects for the submittal of grant applications for Ca!trans' "Safe Routes to
School" Program and have prioritized a list of proposed improvements as follows:

1, LUac Street and Academy Woodbridge Pedestrian (Sidewalk) Improvements
Street
2. Citywide Citywide Elementary, School Warning Signage
Middle and High Schools
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby authorize
the submittal of grant applications in the total amount of $197,000 for Cagrans' "Safe Routes to
School" Program for the projects listed above; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Loth Unified School District would be responsible for any
matching or additional costs on the Woodbridge Grant, with maintenance costs regulated pursuant
to City policies; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to
execute the grant applications on behalf of the City of Lodi.
