HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 82-124 ERRESOLUTION NO. 82-124 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LODI URGING LIMITATIONS ON INDIVIDUAL AND SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS AND URGING MGULATIONS BARING THE USE OF "HIT MAIL" DURING THE ELECTION PROCESS WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lodi is keenly concerned with large individual contributions and expenditures being made on behalf of candidates and or measures during the election process. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lodi i s equally concerned with large sums of moneys being contributed toward various election campaigns by Special Interest Groups. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lodi hereby denounces the practice of circulating "Hit Mail" during pre-election periods and is keenly aware of the negative effect this practice has on the electoral process. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lodi is extremely concerned by the inordinately large suras being spent by candidates. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Lodi. does hereby urge the setting of reasonable limitations on campaign contributions and expenditures and urges the Fair Political Practices Commission to adopt regulations that would prohibit the circulation of "Hit Mail", thereby placing a Imre positive tenure on the election process.
