HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 82-10RESOLUTION NO. 82-10 RESOLUTION URGING GOVERNOR BROWN TO RECONSIDER HIS RECENT FREEZE ON SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION FUNDS AND TO HIS MINIMAL RECOMMENDATION TO THE LEROY F. GREENE BUILDING PROGRAM IN NEXT YEAR'S BUDGET WHEREAS, the Lodi Unified School District has a housing problem of considerable magnitude; and WHEREAS, this housing shortage and its attendant short term solutions (overcrowding, busing, double sessions) negatively impact the quality of life in Lodi; WHEREAS, the State Building Program (in which this district has several projects pending) has the capability not only of improving the quality of life, but also of the provision of 35 - 40 million dollars worth of construction contracts to this area; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Lodi does hereby urge the Governor of the State of California to reconsider his recent freeze on school construction funds and to his minimal recommendation to the Leroy F. Greene building program in this year's budget.
