Hansen RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the Mayor present this Proclamation for retiring Police K-9 "Dusty" to his handler, Officer Jim Mize. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: After two and a half years of dedicated service to the Lodi Police Department and the citizens of Lodi, Police K-9 "Dusty" is retiring from duty. During his tenure as a Lodi Police Narcotic sniffing canine, Dusty has participated in countless narcotic searches, 39 confirmed finds of controlled substances and paraphernalia, and has located over $20,000 in tainted currency which was later forfeited under asset seizure laws. Due to unforeseen medical problems, Dusty's handler, Lodi Police Officer Jim Mize, has officially retired his canine companion. FUNDING: None LDH: sm cc: City Attorney APPROVE; Larry D.
