AGENDA TITLE: Proclamation For Retiring Narcotics Police Dog "Dusty"

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the Mayor present this Proclamation for retiring
Police K-9 "Dusty" to his handler, Officer Jim Mize.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: After two and a half years of dedicated service to
the Lodi Police Department and the citizens of
Lodi, Police K-9 "Dusty" is retiring from duty.
During his tenure as a Lodi Police Narcotic
sniffing canine, Dusty has participated in countless narcotic searches, 39 confirmed finds
of controlled substances and paraphernalia, and has located over $20,000 in tainted
currency which was later forfeited under asset seizure laws.
Due to unforeseen medical problems, Dusty's handler, Lodi Police Officer Jim Mize, has
officially retired his canine companion.
