HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - March 3, 1999 E-03CITY OF LODI COUNCIL COMMUNICATION AGENDA TITLE: Accept Improvements Under Contract for Tokay Street Reconstruction, Mills Avenue to Fairmont Avenue MEETING DATE: March 3, 1999 PREPARED BY: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council accept the improvements under the "Tokay Street Reconstruction, Mills Avenue to Fairmont Avenue" contract, direct the City Engineer to file a Notice of Completion with the County Recorder's office, and appropriate funds as described below. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The project was awarded to Granite Construction, of Stockton, on July 15, 1998, in the amount of $251,943.00. The contract has been completed in substantial conformance with the plans and specifications approved by the City Council. The contract completion date was September 24, 1998, and the actual completion date was September 24, 1998. The final contract price was $317,535.94. The difference between the contract amount and the final contract price is mainly due to extra work done by the contractor to remove and replace unsuitable subgrade which was found under the existing pavement. Staff is requesting that an additional $34,500.00 be appropriated from the Gas Tax Fund to cover these costs. FUNDING: Budgeted Fund: Federal Funds (331) $ 250,000.00 Gas Tax Fund $ 33,100.00 (the above funds were appropriated at contract award) Requested Appropriation: Gas Tax Fund $ 34,500.00 Funding Available: Finance Direc or to Richard C.
